Saharanpur "My Home Town"
Saharanpur(सहारनपुर) is a city and a Municipal Corporation in the state of Uttar Pradesh in northern India. It is the administrative headquarters of Saharanpur District as well as Saharanpur Division. Dating back to the Mughal period, situated close to the borders of Haryana and Uttarakhand states, and surrounded by a very fertile agricultural region famous for plentiful yields in grains and fruits, Saharanpur is now one of the most flourishing cities of Uttar Pradesh. Saharanpur is internationally famous for its wood carving cottage industry. It is a thriving market of local agricultural produce, including basmati rice and mangoes. A variety of agro-based industrial enterprises – such as textiles, sugar, paper and cigarette factories – are located in it.
Saharanpur, as we all know, is an important business centre and Divisional Head Quarter in west U.P. and is strategically placed in such a way that U.P., Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Haryana touch its boundaries. Saharanpur Jn. is a busy railway station havings hundreds of trains passing through it every day which include some superfast, VIP trains like Golden Temple Mail, Shatabdi Express also. Training running between Ahmedabad – Dehradun, Delhi – Amritsar, Delhi – Jammu Tawi also pass through Saharanpur.
People come to Saharanpur for various reasons e.g. business, education, pilgrimage or just to get a connecting train or bus from here for their onward journey. Saharanpur has some major attractions which bring people from not only other parts of India but from different parts of the globe too. Some of these attractions are Ma Shakumbhari Devi Shrine, Wooden handicrafts of Saharanpur and Behat, Darul Uloom Deoband and Tripur Bala Sundari Temple. Some defence establishments (Air force Station, Sarsawa and RTS & Depot) and other govt. offices – CPPRI, Post & Telegraphs Training Centre are other valid reasons to bring people here. IIT Roorkee has its campus in Saharanpur. ITC Ltd. and Star Paper Mill are other attractions of Saharnapur.
